Whack-a-Mole - Complete Game Guide
Whack-a-Mole is a classic reflex game that puts your reaction speed to the test. Moles pop up randomly from a 3x3 grid of holes and you need to tap them before they duck back down. With only 30 seconds on the clock, every fraction of a second counts. It is one of the most recognisable arcade formats ever made, and this browser version captures that frantic energy perfectly.
How to Play
Moles appear randomly from one of nine holes arranged in a 3x3 grid. Each mole stays visible for a short window before hiding again. Tap or click directly on the mole to score a point.
- Tap or click on moles the moment they pop up from a hole
- Each successful hit adds one point to your score
- The game lasts exactly 30 seconds with a visible countdown timer
- Moles appear faster as the timer counts down, raising the difficulty
Tips and Strategy
- Hover your cursor or finger near the middle of the grid to minimise travel distance to any hole
- Do not wait for a mole to fully appear - tap as soon as you see motion in a hole
- Avoid double-tapping the same hole after a hit; immediately scan for the next mole
- In the final 10 seconds the pace ramps up, so stay calm and keep your taps precise
Scoring
Your score is the total number of moles you successfully tap during the 30-second round. Each mole hit counts as one point. There are no penalties for missed taps or clicking empty holes, so tap aggressively whenever you see movement.
