Crystal Grow - Complete Game Guide
Crystal Grow is a thoughtful strategy game about territory. You have 20 seeds and an empty board. Each seed you place grows into a hexagonal crystal that expands outward until it touches another crystal or a wall. Score is the total area all your crystals cover. Black shards periodically fly in from the edges and destroy crystals they touch - so your placement choices matter.
How to Play
The board starts empty. Each tap drops a coloured seed that immediately starts expanding outward as a hexagonal crystal. It grows until it collides with another crystal or a wall. Multiple seeds can grow simultaneously, so the order and spacing of placements controls how big each crystal gets.
- Tap any empty area to drop a seed
- Crystals grow continuously and stop on contact
- You cannot place a seed inside an existing crystal
- Black shards fly in from the edges and shatter crystals they hit
- Game ends when you run out of seeds and all crystals have finished growing
Tips and Strategy
- Don't drop seeds near walls early - crystals need room to expand
- Use later seeds to fill gaps between big crystals - a small filler crystal still scores a few points
- Drop two seeds at the same time on opposite sides - they grow until they meet each other, splitting territory fairly
- Watch for incoming shards and avoid planting in their path
- Save a few seeds for late game - sometimes a perfectly-placed small crystal in a sheltered corner survives when big crystals get shattered
Scoring
Each crystal scores points based on its area when it stops growing. The formula is roughly proportional to the square of its radius. A single seed dropped in open space can score 15-30+ points, while a seed crammed between existing crystals might only score 1-2. Shattered crystals lose their points entirely. Use all 20 seeds wisely.
