Brick Breaker - Complete Game Guide

Brick Breaker brings the classic Breakout arcade experience to your browser. A ball bounces around the screen and you control a horizontal paddle at the bottom to keep it in play. Above you sits a wall of 50 bricks arranged in 5 rows of 10 columns. Every brick the ball touches is destroyed. Your goal is to smash as many bricks as possible before losing all 3 lives. It is one of the most timeless game formats ever created, and this version plays beautifully on both desktop and mobile.

How to Play

The ball launches from your paddle and bounces off walls, bricks, and the paddle itself. Move your paddle horizontally to intercept the ball each time it falls back toward the bottom of the screen. If the ball passes below your paddle, you lose a life.

Tips and Strategy

Pro tip: The ball's angle changes based on where it hits the paddle. Striking the ball with the edge of the paddle sends it at a steep angle, while the centre returns it more vertically. Use the edges to carve tunnels through the sides of the brick wall and get the ball above the bricks for rapid clearing.

Scoring

Each brick broken is worth one point. Your final score is the total number of bricks destroyed before you run out of lives. The maximum possible score is 50 if you clear every brick in the wall. There are no time bonuses or combo multipliers - just pure brick-breaking skill.

Frequently Asked Questions

On desktop, move your mouse left and right to position the paddle. On mobile, drag your finger horizontally across the screen. The paddle follows your input position.
Aim for the sides and top of the brick wall to get the ball above the bricks. Once the ball is bouncing between the top wall and the brick layer, it clears multiple bricks per volley without needing paddle contact. Control where the ball goes by hitting it with different parts of the paddle.
